At Risk of Homelessness Support
The Rural Outreach & Support Service is dedicated to preventing homelessness before it begins. Our At Risk of Homelessness Support service is designed to provide proactive assistance to individuals and families in the Inverell, Glen Innes, Tenterfield, and Warialda areas who are at risk of becoming homeless.
Our Approach
Our approach is preventative, person-centred, and collaborative. We aim to identify and address the factors that put individuals and families at risk of homelessness. By providing early intervention, we can help prevent the trauma and disruption that homelessness can cause.
Our Services
Our services are tailored to the unique needs of each client and can include:
-
Access to Information and Resources: We provide up-to-date information and resources on legal, welfare, medical, educational, and housing rights. Our team can introduce clients to various community and welfare agencies that can provide further assistance.
-
Advocacy: We advocate on behalf of our clients, ensuring they have access to the resources and services they need. We liaise with and coordinate the services of Health, Department of Communities and Justice, Legal, Housing, and Community agencies.
-
Support and Advice: Our team provides support and advice to help clients maintain their housing and prevent homelessness. This can include assistance with budgeting, negotiating with landlords, or finding more affordable housing.
-
Life Skills Workshops: We conduct training courses and workshops to help our clients develop essential life skills. These workshops cover a wide range of topics, from financial management to conflict resolution.
-
Referral Service: We have established partnerships with a range of service providers and can refer clients to these services for additional support.
