Rural Outreach and Support Service is committed to collecting, managing, and discussing personal information in accordance with NSW Privacy Legislation. The policy ensures that personal information is collected with consent, used for necessary purposes, and stored securely.
De identified client information is provided to the AIHW to use for research and statistical purposes to inform government the public regarding housing and homelessness needs(current and future) and to manage homelessness programs.
ROSS also ensures that clients are informed about their privacy rights at the intake and initial assessment stage. The policy also provides guidelines for ensuring privacy during interviews and personal discussions, and for participants in research projects.
The policy conforms to the Federal Privacy Act (1988) and the Australian Privacy Principles. It applies to all records containing personal information about individuals and to interviews or discussions of a sensitive personal nature.
